NEAT X FOND BOUTIQUE: TANYA’S DAYTIME LOOK

We are back this week with our second installment of NEAT x Fond Boutique. In case you missed what is going on we are basically playing dress up with the beautiful clothing from Fond Boutique, a local Calgary consignment store. Make sure to check out our Daytime and Nighttime looks from last week!

This weeks fashion posts are brought to you by the lovely Julie Redman, fashion stylist extraordinaire and NEAT blog fashion contributor, who styled none other than the owner of Fond Boutique herself Tanya Puka. Take a gander below to read about Julie’s process with choosing Tanya’s daytime look.

Tanya Puka – a generous, warm hearted, classic beauty that truly dislikes wearing dresses. I respect that one-hundo-p and if you know her, you’re not surprised by this. As you read in last week’s posts by KB, Tanya is the owner of Fond Boutique, a freakin’ fabulous consignment boutique that has definitely made my life, and closet, better. She has a plethora of carefully hand-picked pieces so this was not a challenge to find her something to wear with leg holes.

So here’s the look – a remarkable combo of meticulous embroidery and layered lace with some whimsy accents and a touch of pattern play. Oh, and of course a red sole but we’ll get to that detail later. This day look can happily and easily transition to night but that’s not the point. The point is she’s a #bosslady 24/7 and this outfit makes 9-5 her bitch.

You’ve already learned that Tanya is not a fan of dresses, so in the spirit of consistency and keeping a dear friend happy, I put her in pants…with a dress on top. Everybody calm down, this is not a faux pas. I fucking wear pants under dresses all the time especially when I don’t want to freeze my ass off in the winter wearing a short…errr number. What better way to get the most use out of an item all year round?!

My friend is a denim on the bottom kind of girl so I found a way for her to stay true to her style while I still pushed the boundary a bit. (Disclaimer: I usually make people wear things they wouldn’t typically think of, or want to. I’m a pusher…of fashion boundaries that is. This isn’t like in Mean Girls when Tina Fey is accused of being a drug pusher. At least I sure hope you don’t have a burn book with my face in it!)

Now, let’s take a moment to pay our respects to these shoes. They will literally add sass, pure sass, to any outfit, make you walk taller and could bring any fashionista to tears. Oh wait, they already did. (Guilty!)

I have mad amounts of respect for Tanya and look up to her all day, erry day. She is the definition of success and truthfully makes me feel calm just by being around her. I so appreciate the opportunity to have styled her and can’t wait to show you what we assembled for her nighttime look! See you tomorrow, nerds!

Direct message Tanya if you see anything here you like!!
