There is a recent trend happening, no thanks to those darn Kardashian’s, where people are just wearing head to toe neutrals. And not just grays and browns and blacks, but actual flesh toned garments. Clothes that match the colour of a person’s skin so well that you have to do a double take like, did I just see dem titties?! And then you realize sadly that no, you did not just see dem titties, you saw dem titties covered in a skin tight flesh toned top and now your entire day is ruined because you’ve been let down.
Now neutrals are a great thing, just ask Switzerland. But at NEAT we love colour! Big, bright, bold colour! So it’s hard for us to get on board with the whole neutrals4life fashion movement. Come on, a woman needs more than black, white and khaki in her closet. And army green does NOT count. It’s hard not to feel like a large oatmeal flake in neutrals, particularly brown and beige. And at NEAT we can wholeheartedly say that oatmeal is the last food we ever want to be compared too. We would take stale toast over oatmeal. Mushy and bland are not words we want associated with our closets. So Kayla set out to spice up her neutrals and to encourage people to embrace colour again!
Kayla chose bright pops of colour in her accessories from top to bottom to tie it all together. But then just to confuse us all she opted for a dark brown lip. WTF Kayla?! If there is one thing we can get on board with when it comes to neutrals, it’s a brown lip.
Adding colour to a natural wardrobe is so fucking easy! It goes like this, pick some goddamn colour and throw it on your body. Your entire outfit is neutral so literally any colour will work. Any colour. That’s why God invented neutrals, to showcase colour. Neutrals are the Casper Smart colours to Jennifer Lopez, just there to make colour look young and fresh and serving no other purpose besides that.
So the next time you are putting on your favourite neutral outfit try to add some colour to those duds, even if it’s only to avoid looking like an oatmeal flake.
