PARKSHOW 2017 in Inglewood saw a lot of newcomers to the PARK runway scene and a lot of old favourites. However PARK isn’t that old so take that comment with a grain of salt. Suzanne and I were completely smitten with Alex S. Yu, a London trained fashion designer from Vancouver. We were so taken that we each bought a piece right off the model’s backs!
Alex S. Yu’s pieces at PARK were structured, bold and experimental street-savvy with a futuristic vibe. AKA our everyday outfits. We’re not sure how he managed to capture the essence of our personal style but it happened and we’re going to roll with it. I opted for this mesh neon coral skirt and Suzanne will be featuring her piece in a future post so I won’t spoil the surprise. If we had enough dough we could have easily bought an Alex S. Yu original to wear every day of the week… But that would mean we would have to start selling our soul on NEAT and we know you don’t want to read that sponsored garbage. So we will remain true to ourselves, poor, and in one Alex S. Yu piece each.
You can see from Alex’s collection that he would pair this neon coral mesh structured skirt with a multi coloured ruffled top, fuzzy slippers with his logo written all over you. I’m toning it down with a neutral ruffled top, neon sky-high wedges, giraffe necklace and black heart purse. If you are not feeling so bold this skirt could be worn as a statement piece with a paired back top and accessories. Or it can be worn the way I prefer it, part of an equally bold ensemble. More is more in this case (and in most cases for me).
Another newcomer we fell in love with at PARKSHOW is Lac Ann out of Edmonton, and an old favourite, also out of Edmonton, Urbanovitch. Overall the entire lineup was stellar and the event was flawless… hope to see you at the next one. Look for us in all of our PARK swag!
